- Encaustic -
StandStill is an exploration of the Encaustic medium and an experimentation with materials that include wood, paper, canvas, beeswax, fabrics, rope, glue, pastels, acrylics, ink and charcoal.
Surface treatments, diverse materials and creating interesting textures are my main focus when approaching a series; I pursue a recurring/familiar theme and, through layering and gestural strokes, I am able to explore this complex medium and add new elements to each piece.
Due to their textural emphasis, encaustics (as all artwork for that matter) are best appreciated in person, but the following are fair images showing this project.
